El Tiempo Latino (of the Washington Post) Highlights Paola Moya’s Accomplishments
Equivalent to The Washington Post for the Hispanic Community, El Tiempo Latino describes the history of the Howard Theatre, the challenges behind the project, and Paola Moya’s success story.The article Hispanic Remodels Historically Significant Building showcases the Latin pride of Paola Moya’s role in the Howard Theatre; one of the most important pillars of local and African American culture. Colombian architect Paola Moya recalls her experience, “[The theatre] was closed for more than 30 years, and after many attempts of to renovate it, the plans didn’t go through. The Howard continued to deteriorate day by day…when they finally called us once the deal was sealed, we felt an enormous amount of pride.”
The feature highlights Paola’s success story. Upon migrating from Bogota, Colombia to the United States, Paola worked every day to help her family make ends meet. In addition, she took night time classes in Montgomery College to help start her career. The article also shares the remainder of Paola’s education from Catholic University and her partnership with Michael Marshall.
